When I rewatched the films so I could curate this collection, this moment stuck out to me immediately in a way I hadn’t noticed before. Maybe it’s because the prequels had just been on my mind, so I was unintentionally thinking of Anakin, yet Luke’s devotion and Love to his father and who he could be was always at the forefront of Luke’s motivation and actions.
The idea of “bringing his father back” or “reminding him who he was” was always the focus.
So after a massive fight with Vader, with the emperor happier than ever…
Luke throws down his saber and says “I’m a Jedi… Like my father before me”
and the redemption that happens after that moment is what we had been waiting for.
This moment inspired this shirt because Luke ALWAYS felt Anakin was there… he just had to remind him of that.
